Let Santa Barbara Design Studio be your manufacturing resource for custom or private label projects. We offer manufacturing capabilities in ceramic, glass, wood, resin and melamine in both hand painting and decal artwork. In addition to having our own decorating plant in California, we work with several of the top ceramic and glass factories in Asia. We have spent years developing and screening these high quality, low cost, dependable factories and can offer essentially unlimited capacity. Our particular expertise is high quality imaging on ceramic and glass products of all type, but particularly tabletop, gourmet, and giftware items. We are known for our top of the line packaging that can create an elegant presentation for your products.

We have created custom and private label projects for many top retailers and distributors including Marmaxx, Stein Mart, Tuesday Morning, Home Depot , Williams Sonoma Marketplace and Pfaltzgraff. We can offer decal printing, hand painting or combinations of the two. We can use any clay type depending on the requirements of the project: stoneware, fine china, porcelain, high density earthenware or terra cotta

We can take your project from concept to completion, using your artwork or ours. We have relationships with dozens of the finest product and surface designers. We also have a full service design studio that can bring your concept to life.

We are experts at direct import programs. We understand the needs of large retailers, are EDI capable and able to meet your rigorous deadlines and packaging / labeling standards.

The essential parameters for custom items:

• Minimum order requirement per SKU: typically 1,200 pcs
• Projects usually take 6 months from concept to completion or 90 days from final approval of pre-production sample..
• We do not have the ability or facilities to store custom product, so you must purchase all the pieces and take possession of the goods all at one time once completed.
• $500 deposit required, per item, to be paid in advance. This amount will be applied as a credit to your first invoice for the goods.
• Products - Customer may provide fully finished sample, we will format and create materials as necessary at no charge (for up to 5 hours of labor) and forward onto our factories for sample creation. Projects requiring more than 5 hours of graphic art time for formatting, will be subject to graphic art fees. If your project is just “conceptual”, we have a fully staffed talented graphic artist team that can work with you to create your products. Graphic art fees will be charged by the hour for package creation. Hourly rate to be determined based on extensiveness and detail of project.
• Packaging – customer may either provide finished packaging sample or specifically outlined details. Graphic art fees will be charged by the hour for package creation. Hourly rate TBD. Customer may be responsible for any additional charges incurred by our factories for the creation of custom (non-stock) boxing.
• Each round of sampling requires 4 – 6 weeks. Once completed & approved, lead time would be 90-120 days for production and shipping
• Wholesale price to be determined after costs for finished piece and packaging is assessed. A good ballpark is to use our own wholesale price of any similar piece type. Your cost will be less or more depending upon the detail in the design and the requirements for the packaging.
• Shipping can be FOB California or FOB China depending on your preference.
• Terms: 50% prepay upon submission of PO and balance is to be paid upon shipping. FOB CA orders – credit card or Net 30 upon credit approval. DI / FOB China orders – LC or wire transfer.
